Semester Reflection

At the beginning of this class I was not very excited about having to take this class. I am not a fan of social media, I never use Facebook, I have never blogged, and I have never had a twitter or any other form of social media. So to say the least I was pretty skeptical about the whole course and wasn't looking forward to learning about something I saw as a waste of time.

I expected to learn very little to be entirely honest, I figured we would just be going over how all of the different platforms worked. I assumed I would be learning more about how to network on social media and that this would be a class trying to get me to like social media. I have always had my friends telling me to get various social medias, and I have always said I wanted nothing to do with that.

However, with all of the different reasons I disliked social media I learned a lot. I am now happy that I learned about how positively using social media can be for a business. I also enjoyed today's class where we were able to see just how many people these fake accounts were able to reach. I am actually now starting a business with my siblings and I am going to do all of the marketing for the business and I am very happy that I paid attention in class and know how to use all of the free marketing services that we learned about.

My favorite experience would probably have to be what we did today. I am a numbers person, I like to see the statistics behind what is being done and see the effect it is having. I found it really interesting that with just 3 different social media sites posting a few times a week, it was able to reach hundreds of people without even trying. I am now excited to see how good of a job I can do using the skills I have learned to help my own business, and to see if I will be able to reach the market that I am aiming for to lift this operation off the ground.
