Semester Reflection

At the beginning of this class I was not very excited about having to take this class. I am not a fan of social media, I never use Facebook, I have never blogged, and I have never had a twitter or any other form of social media. So to say the least I was pretty skeptical about the whole course and wasn't looking forward to learning about something I saw as a waste of time.

I expected to learn very little to be entirely honest, I figured we would just be going over how all of the different platforms worked. I assumed I would be learning more about how to network on social media and that this would be a class trying to get me to like social media. I have always had my friends telling me to get various social medias, and I have always said I wanted nothing to do with that.

However, with all of the different reasons I disliked social media I learned a lot. I am now happy that I learned about how positively using social media can be for a business. I also enjoyed today's class where we were able to see just how many people these fake accounts were able to reach. I am actually now starting a business with my siblings and I am going to do all of the marketing for the business and I am very happy that I paid attention in class and know how to use all of the free marketing services that we learned about.

My favorite experience would probably have to be what we did today. I am a numbers person, I like to see the statistics behind what is being done and see the effect it is having. I found it really interesting that with just 3 different social media sites posting a few times a week, it was able to reach hundreds of people without even trying. I am now excited to see how good of a job I can do using the skills I have learned to help my own business, and to see if I will be able to reach the market that I am aiming for to lift this operation off the ground.

November, more than just Thanksgiving.

With Thanksgiving coming up in the next week we should all be thinking about how fortunate we are and give thinks for what we have. If you are reading this post you are fortunate enough to have a computer and internet or have access to these things, that in itself is worth being thankful for. However, if you are reading this post you most likely also are fortunate enough to have an animal as your best friend! Owning an animal is one of the greatest things that can happen to a person, they will love you unconditionally and look forward to spending time with you every day of their lives.

November is not only known for Thanksgiving and one of the best meals of the year though, November has also more recently become known as "So Shave November". This is an event where men will quit shaving for the month and get donations from people or businesses for the longer they go without shaving, and all of the money that is raised is then donated to help the fight against cancer. This is a great way to raise cancer awareness and also a great way to raise money for a worthy cause, but this is not a great way for your pet to show his or her support for the cause, so we at Boddy Animalscapes came up with a way to fix that.

For the month of November, Boddy Animalscapes will match dollar for dollar every person who brings us their receipt for the pet grooming that their pet received, but that's not all! We will also be donating 5% of all of our pet home and landscaping sales to the American Cancer Society. We feel very strongly about supporting our community, society, and our customers, so we figured how better to help out all of these groups of people than to donate to the American Cancer Society. Show your support this month by growing out your facial hair if you are a man, and by getting a your animal clipped and groomed. There are many ways to help out, these are just a few ways to help get you started.

If you are looking for a way to connect with other animal lovers join the social networking site specifically for people like you! If you are unsure of what it is, check out this video made to simplify and summarize the site for you.

Top 10 Things You Didn't Know About Your Dog

1). When you loose something important to you, don't be so sure it is lost. Dogs like to take things they think are important to you and hide them in a safe place so that nothing bad can happen to them.
2). The reason dogs walk in circles before laying down is to get their scent all around them before they go to sleep to assure that other animals know that this spot is theirs.
3). If you notice that your dog only willingly goes into the water if you are in the water, this is because your best friend is concerned that you are unable to swim and wants to be there to help you if need be.
4). If your dog doesn't like to eat while you are around, this is because your dog sees you as the leader of the pack and knows that the leader eats first. This is just because of natural instincts and there is little that can be done to change it.
5). During the summer, dogs love frozen treats. Dogs can only cool down by sweating through the pads on their feet and by panting, a cold meal in their belly will help them to cool off.
6). Dogs like music, they have very pitch sensitive hearing and experts have proven that upbeat music makes dogs happy just like it does for humans.
7). Dogs love to roll in things, even if it smells awful. This is a dogs way of covering up its own smell so that predators and pray alike are unable to pick up the scent of the dog.
8). When a dog sits on your feet it is not only the dogs way of telling you that it loves you, but it is also a way to tell other animals that you are theirs.
9). When your dog licks you this is not only to tell you that it loves you (which is part of it) but it is also a way to tell you that they are submissive to you.
10). Dogs carry objects around to show ownership of that item, dogs are concerned that if they set an object down a more dominant dog will come and take it. However, a lot of dogs have comfort objects like a favorite toy, they like these in times of stress, fear, and extreme joy.

Now that you have learned a little bit more about mans best friend you will be able to understand why your dog behaves they way that it does. A lot of the time a dogs behavior can be confusing, but much of the strange behavior is just ways of showing the owner love, trying to protect it, and making sure that all other animals know that you are theirs. As you can see, dogs are very affectionate animals and develop strong bonds with their owners, this is a big reason that they are referred to as mans best friend.
